Keep your Brain 🧠 safe and Healthy 🀯

March is the Brain Injury Awareness month, and this week is Brain Awareness week so what does it means and what are the actions you can take to keep your brain safe and healthy!

More than half of Traumatic Brain  Injuries (TBI)-related ED visits hospitalizations, and deaths among children 0 to 14 years are caused by falls. The most common mild TBI in children, is a concussion; it is usually caused by a bump,  jolt to the head, or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. There are many ways to help reduce the risk of a concussion or other serious brain injury. The most important one is making sure you always wears the right helmet during sports and recreation, and that it fits correctly.

I've partnered with Woom bikes to remind you the importance of wearing a helmet when riding your bike, as it is one way to reduce the chances of sustaining a TBI if you fall and hit your head ! The Woom bike helmet won the Design and Innovation Award in 2018 πŸ† because of the following safety features: extended protection for the temples and back of the head, easy-to-use magnetic buckle, optimal ventilation and size adjustment dial, and flexible visor - a unique safety feature - serves as additional forehead protection!

Another important tip to prevent TBIs is to always use age- and size-appropriate car seats and booster seats that are properly installed. Fall prevention is also very important to prevent TBI. Falls on the playground are a common cause of injury. When you are on the playground check that the surfaces under the playground equipment are safe, soft, and consist of wood chips or sand. At home, use guards on windows that are above ground level, stair gates, and guard rails. These  devices help keeping a busy, active child from taking a dangerous tumble.

Since your brain is the most important organ in your body, and is an incredible machine that generates our thoughts, emotions and actions, let's dedicate this week (March 11-17) to honor it!

Here are some tips to keep your brain healthy:
  1. Exercise your body to keep your brain in shape. When you exercise, you increase the blood flow in your brain and this helps to stimulate learning, attention, mood, and thinking.
  2. Exercise your brain, just like your muscle. Read or try something new and challenging that makes your brain works hard.
  3. Eat a healthy, avoid greasy junk food but instead eat a low fat diet and see how good you feel!
  4. Get plenty of sleep.
  5. Spend time with other people. Connecting with others is good for your brain’s health.

January Recap - First month of 2019!

Wow, I can't believe January is already coming to an end. You were probably wondering, what has happened to me this month? Well let's me just do a quick recap and tell you what goals I have set...
January is my birthday month as well as my mom's birthday so of course we celebrated us getting one year younger.
We hosted my birthday party at the new Dave and Buster's new location in Torrance. This was my choice and while my mom thought I might still be too young to play those arcade games. I proved her wrong. I had a blast and even broke the Long Jump world record playing the Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games!!! Check out how I felt about that:
Our guests had a great time, the food was good, and the staff was very friendly and super attentive. And lucky me, I also got to learn some magic tricks as every Sunday they have a magician coming to entertain their dinning room!

And with all the tickets I earned playing with my Power card with unlimited video games, I exchanged them for a super cute Squishmallows: Hans the Hedgehog.
Talking of Squishmallows, I have now a family of four. I was so happy to be one of 12 days of Squishmas Instagram contest, and won Piper the Penguin.
We celebrated my mom's birthday on our Heelys...isn't it awesome to have a mom who is willing to twin with me and learn how to wheels with Heelys!

And one of my goals for the beginning of this year is to spend as much time on wheels as possible not only with my Heelys but also with my roller skates and scooter...soon you'll be calling me SuperGirl on wheels.
Another goal of mine is to take my fitness to another level, as I would like to participate in the Swimming Junior Olympics...so if I want to qualify, I need to swim faster and in order to swim faster, not only I need to keep swimming and but I also need to workout outside the pool.

My mom and I found the perfect App for that...It is called Vi Trainer,  a personal trainer App. Vi analyzes your training patterns and provides you with workouts that are adequate for you based on your fitness goals. It is very convenient as Vi is always available for you, just by a click on your phone!

Last but not least, let's talk about my skincare routine, as the pilot season is kicking off and I am putting all these hours of swimming in, I have to make sure my skin stays clean and well hydrated, so I can show off its glow to these casting directors! Lately, I have been usingDermalogicaUltra Calming cleanser after each swim practice, followed by the Ultracalming mist and the calm water gel to keep my skin moisturized. Facts that I like about  these Dermalogica products, they are:

  • Made in Southern California,
  • Paraben-free,
  • Cruelty free,
  • Do not contain artificial fragrance and colors!

I hope you had a great first month of 2019. Thank you for reading this post and talk to you soon!

I am thankful to Drunk Elephant for sending me these awesome Skin Care products!
Let's start first with my favorites:
  • I used the Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser every night in my bath after my swim practice. It is really gentle and I love the Jelly feel when I apply it on my  face.
  • Once my skin is clean and dry, I apply the Protini Polypeptide Cream. The texture is very smooth and it is perfect to replenishing the moisture of my skin after those long swim practice hours.
Now let's talk about my mom's skincare routine:
  • She uses the Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser every morning in the shower.
  • Once her skin is clean and dry, she applies the C-Firma™ Day Serum in combination with the B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum, on her face and neck, for an extra shot of hydration.
  • Then she add a shot of the Protini Polypeptide Cream.
  • At night, she likes to mix the T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum and the Protini Polypeptide Cream.
  • Once weekly, she is using the Babyfacial™ to improve her skin texture and tone and give her skin a more youthful radiance.
Only after a few weeks of applying these Drunk Elephant products, I can clearly see that my mom's wrinkles and lines are not as deep as before and that her skin is glowing...stay tuned for some photos in a couple of week after a month of treatment!

Facts about Drunk Elephant products:
  • Made in USA.
  • Cruelty Free.
  • Fragrance-free...fun fact about the C-Firma™ Day Serum, I tell my mom that it smells like hot-dog :-)

Getting HydroBoosted this Fall!

I am lucky to live in Los Angeles, a city where it never rains...or almost as we finally got some rain over the past 2 weeks.

The caveat of living in a city where the humidity level is very low, is that my skin tends to get dry if I don't moisturize it on a daily basis.
And as I swim almost everyday, it is even more important to take care of my skin after swimming and getting exposed to the sunlights and chlorine.
As an athlete and an actress, healthy choices should not just be about food and exercise – but they should also include the best skincare for the face and body.

I am thankful to Neutrogena for sending me these awesome Hydro Boost products (Body Gel Cream, Whipped Body Balm and Hand Gel Cream) to incorporate into my daily skin care regimen!
As a young skincare advocate I want to remind all the moms out there that it is important to start using good skincare on their children when they are young, not when they start developing skin problems.
Neutrogena was always recommended by my dermatologist and pediatrician. I am long time user of their face and sunscreen products.

My favorite product of the  Hydro Boost Body Line is the Hydro Boost Body Body Whipped Cream. I love its feather-light feel, its refreshing and lightweight formula ... My mom always have a hard time with me putting body  lotion on because they are usually feel slimy and I hate that. But finally we found a a body get that hydrates my skin well without bothering me.
And plus it is fragrance free and gives a nice glow to my skin.
My mom's favorite is the Hydro Boost  Gel Cream. It is also very light and holds up to 1000 times its weight in water. She likes that its instantly quenches dry areas and that her skin has a now a healthy looking, and leaves her skin supple overtime. And we both like how easy it is to use with the pump.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Body Gel Cream is also Fragrance Free.
And as we are both tennis players, we love using  Hydro Boost Hand Gel Cream to hydrate our hands after playing tennis. This Gel cream is a non-greasy hand softening cream, it penetrates really quickly and doesn't leave your hand all sticky after applying it but leaves dry hands noticeably softer and smoother. And the Hydro Boost Hand Gel Cream is paraben-free.
Talking about budget, these Hydro Boost products are very affordable and can be used by the whole family. So don't wait and go purchase them at Neutrogena.com, any national food and drug stores, and on amazon.

My life as a Little Mermaid

Once upon a time there was a little girl who loves swimming and always dreamed to be a Mermaid... until the day she discovered Fin Fun Mermaid.
Diary of my life as a real little mermaid:
When I wore the mermaid tail for the first time, it was magical and I told my mom that this was a dream come true!
Ever since then, I am just looking for any opportunity to wear my Fin Fun Mermaid Tails, whether it is at the pool, or at the beach. The Neoprene Monofin is a little hard to slid in, and needed the help of my mom. But once I have the Tail and Fin on, the Mermaid Tail is very comfortable and fun to swim with. It is definitely Fin Fun!

* Getting ready to jump in the pool with my Fin Fun Mermaid swimmable tail and swim like a real mermaid.

* Going to swim practice with Fin Fun Mermaid leggings & T-shirt.

Fin Fun clothing have great designs, are very light and of high quality.

*Relaxing in the ocean with my Fin Fun Mermaid wearable tails and bikini.

As a modern Mermaid, I also had fun taking selfie in the Ocean.... Thanks to Proshot case for keeping my iphoneX functional in the water.

Not only I love Fin Fun wearable tails, but I also adore their cute bikinis. Their size 8 fits me perfectly!

If you are a little swimmer like me or know a girl who dreams to become a mermaid, visit FinFun Mermaid and shop for their mermaid tails and clothing, they are such great gifts for the Holiday Season.
